Abstract:

This dataset is a digital reproduction of 14 exhibition panels produced for the exhibition 'Au foyer des résistance', held in Brussels' Marolles Quarter in the former Au Foyer space (Huidevettersstraat 117, 1000 BRUSSEL) from 29 March 2024 until 7 April 2024. The exhibition was curated by researchers Céline Drieskens (Vrije Universiteit Brussel - VUB), Charlotte Gyselynck (Université Libre de Bruxelles - ULB) and architect Amos Bok, who supervised a team of ULB and VUB students in architecture and urban planning. Together, in a week-long workshop, as part of the Semaine d'innovation pédagogique funded by ULB, they produced the exhibition panels starting from archival material on housing struggles and the housing crisis in Brussels. The aim of the exhibition was to raise awareness on the housing crisis and (historical and contemporary) housing struggles in Brussels in the shape of a community exhibition inciting discussion in a neighborhood that epitomizes housing struggles. The exhibition fits in a research project funded by the Research Council Flanders (FWO) under contract G038021N in which Céline Drieskens developed a PhD dissertation entitled "Housing as a matter of justice. Politics and practices beyond the right to housing" (September 2026). The exhibition is discussed in the following article: Celine Drieskens. (2025). Spaces of resistance: Re-activating archives through community exhibitions for housing justice. Radical Housing Journal. 7(2). https://doi.org/10.54825/afou8150.
