Description
This database contains information on every person who was enrolled in the matriculation registers of the Old University of Leuven (1425-1797). The data are based on the edition of the matriculation registers by Reusens, Wils and Schillings (1903-1980) and were checked against the original registers where necessary. (2023-08-22) (2023-08-24)

Notes The basic data from the database (name, first name, origin, diocese and enrollment date) were entered by Suzanne Jannis. These data were uploaded to SODHA as version 1.0 in 2020 after a round of corrections led by Marc Carnier. Under the guidance of Valerie Vrancken, David Fondu conducted another round of corrections in 2022 and 2023. He also enriched the database with additional categories of data based on the edition (information about enrollment fees, the age of those enrolled, their field of study and the pedagogies or schools to which they were affiliated). For each record, a volume and folio number was added as well. Lydia Janssen took care of processing the corrections and additional data, data-cleaning and fixing corrupted data and structural errors in the database. She also added ID numbers and UUID numbers to the records. We would like to express our thanks to Eddy Put (Belgian State Archives), Mark Depauw, Margherita Fantoli, Violet Soen and Yanne Broux (STUDIUM.AI - KU Leuven) for their valuable advice and/or technical support in the creation of this database.

Version 2.0 - the data from version 1.0 were cleaned and corrected. - corrupted data were restored and structural errors in the database were fixed. - the data were ordered (by ID number) according to the order of entry in the matriculation registers. - new categories of data were added to the database: for each record, the volume and folio number of the matriculation register was included. Additional information about enrollment fees, the age of those enrolled, their field of study and the pedagogies or schools to which they were affiliated was also added. - an ID number and a UUID number were added to the records. - the metadata were further enriched.
